AC3 is my personal favorite
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMDDHcmB9MA

I had listened to Buckethead befure but only a song or two, I never got into his discography. I went to a concert of his recently and loved it so I decided to dive in and I am loving it.

Each one of these "pikes" as they're called (albums) are just pure instrumental fur about 30 minutes. I listened to the first few he made and they blew me away. But the best part - there's over 600 pikes! He's one of the most prolific music creators out there, he makes music constantly and is always releasing new stuff every month. Having such a quantity of good music befure me makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. This one in particular was my favorite of the first dozen pikes but they are all masterful. I hope the quality remains this high throughout, as this will definitely take me more than a year to go through all of them.

This song is single handely crafted beautifully, it contains several distinguishable sentences in its lyrics. As if it was a heavenly choir sang by angels and spirits of those who have fallen. The melody is divine, heartwarming and wholesome, to the point where I get existential over my life decisions.. it's just so perfect, the harmony, the composition.. it was brought by God himself.

I listened through most of the first guy's work over last night and I'm largely unimpressed. At its best it's sort of defanged, deracinated, saccharine incelcore. What pathos does slip out isn't more profound than remorseful sub-normalfag. Only a couple instrumentals stood out to me as above average, and the cover illustrations are nice enough.
It mostly wasn't an unpleasant experience, and this is interesting enough for me as a case study.
>>107799
When I was around 5-6 years old (2011-2012), I came across a grainy porno of a women and velociraptors on Youtube. It didn't elicit any discernible emotions in the moment other than slight curiosity, I think I did "get" what was going on on a fundamental level but wasn't moved enough to remember many details about the video other than it looking "old". Then I listened to a neat song which I never found again and went back to playing flash games. Now that I really think about it, a lot of the good memorable dreams I had around the time did have faint tinges of incipient proto-[homo-]eroticism which I picked up on, also feelings of being sombre and fleeting. There was one I liked enough to have revisited it via picking it out as a weathered hardcover storybook out of a great bookcase tower in an amber void. Maybe it was that video's fault. EPI... stupid dull faggots and racial flotsam want to gaslight me into thinking that I was molested by pixels on my screen. School was what crippled and dulled me, and my family for not recognising what levels I was operating at. Being in a maths lesson during Year 2 and getting told that I wasn't allowed to do addition and subtraction beyond the hundreds because everybody else in the class was still struggling with the tens (even though I was already being separately attended to from the rest of the class because I was so far ahead) had wounded me on an infinitely realer and more lasting level than any gore or pornography I have ever seen. My mother buying me stupid shovelware crap for my DS instead of games that would've been formative. It's about time I start trying to compile a complete understanding of my childhood, forgetting everything except the resentment hasn't worked out.

I had an idea to create a blog where I just review stuff like movies or music, but in particular music. The idea would be that I try to go through an artist's entire discography each month then create a "best of" playlist of my favorites, and draw a custom album cover for said playlist in the theme of the band. I don't know how soon I would do it and I would need to set up the site first but it sounds like fun in my mind

I think that's a really cool idea! I'd be interested in your blog, and I had an idea of my own too. It's sad that the admin decided to shut down the 'foo, but I wanted to make my thanks by creating a blog where silly critters teach you stuff. For example Cassandra could teach you how to install Gentoo(tm) in one article and Xandra would teach you how to use nginx in another. Would you be comfortable in something like that? I only gave examples of what I had in mind, if you're not comfortable with me using your character I obviously wouldn't.

I really like this song
I went through Michael Jackson's discography recently because I'm a retarded goy and I let a movie convince me to listen to things. Albeit I remember liking his music when I had a shitty battery-powered MP3 player back when I was maybe 5 years old and it had a bunch of his songs preloaded on it. I know we're supposed to be keyed and hate niggers or whatever but uh.... Anyways, debut album's okay, but not really for me. It sounds like romantic movie soundtrack music. You know: the kind of music that sounds like sunsets and end credits? It's basically too slow and soft for my liking, overall. The harpsichord features rather prominently in it, though, and that instrument always piques my interest.
"Got To Be There" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4_w1L_sfcU ) has a nearly Baroque sounding intro. But the rest is meh.
"Rockin' Robin" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxCaW7bzrKY ) has a more classic rock 'n' roll sound that I can appreciate but it still just falls short and is too soft and flowery for my taste. Probably one of the better tracks on this album that I might randomly find myself in the mood for someday, though.
"Wings of Love" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip7uMmTpsR0 ) has some very beautiful melodies. Again, almost Classical in parts. Really nice, actually. I just... don't think I'll really be in the mood for it most the time.
"Maria" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dquKjApv_tU ) & "Love Is Here And Now You're Gone" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IYrc86wLWo ) have a darker, more complex sound and harpsichord in parts. Very interesting motifs, but the execution overall... yeah, I think you get the idea.
I don't really have anything special to say about the rest of the tracks. I'll continue with the rest of his discography later, maybe, but everything prior to "Off the Wall" is basically like this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJEpCiogxKo

The only notable track from his child/adolescent albums is the title track from his second album, "Ben": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts3aB-i5tUw , I'd say, personally. Most likely because it was written for a film. He was basically just a child vocalist for the first four albums and had no real control over the music at this point, if I'm not mistaken.

"Off the Wall" is the first album where it seems he asserts control over the actual composition & arrangement of the music, and it shows. However, personally, the only song I really keep coming back to is "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUDvEcNU2l0
The title track is good but only really notable to me because it would go on to be sampled by Saint Pepsi in a vaporwave track. Speaking of vaporwave, I'd say there's plenty of good material for sampling both in this album and his earlier childhood albums despite being from the 70s.

After this comes his prime material: "Thriller" and "Bad", the quintessential albums. Virtually all the songs from said albums are le good.
Then there's "Dangerous" (early 90s). The first half is not really for me and sounds rather aged (classic hip-hop sound), but the latter half (from "Heal the World" onward) is kino (sounding more like 80s pop rock, generally). The cover art is also captivating, reminds me of Hieronymus Bosch. These three tracks are the highlights of the album for me. "Will You Be There" in particular is very beautiful. It opens with Beethoven. The original portion may sound tacked on at first, but it quickly transforms into a touching piece of music in its own right. "Gone Too Soon" is likewise very touching, especially given the story behind it. The music video managed to jerk a tear or two out of my sensitive ass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-y_IxPcx8U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIuPDFw9dRU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MId7TrChkHA

I'm simply going to call this album "History" like most everyone else. The first half is simply a compilation of tracks from "Off the Wall" onward up to that point. The latter half contains all the original material. Three of the first four songs are the most aggressive, lyrically, in all his discography, I think, being among the few to contains swear words and a few slurs. Most notably, "They Don't Care About Us" contains "kike" and "Jew", which came completely out of left field for me. A lot of people take this to mean that he must've been secretly keyed or something, but I'm pretty sure they were meant to be interpreted as him identifying with the oppression of Jews. Interestingly, though, it seems all streamable versions censor both "kike" and "Jew" but not "nigga" or any other swears which is... uh... intriguing. Another track I've become engrossed by is "Little Susie/Pie Jesu", which he apparently wrote all the way back in 1978, though it's probably best it was shelved for this album, because I cannot see it fitting very well into "Off the Wall". It is an orchestral waltz and pretty dark, making me reflect on the terrible things that happen to innocent people without anyone ever knowing, the tragedies that occur daily. However, it doesn't actually seem to be based on a true story, thankfully.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_OPJ2d86kE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG_MREFDJgc

Then there's "Invincible". Yeah, that shit disappointed me. The most notable thing I can say about it is that it is vaguely nostalgic only because I recall overhearing music like it growing up. It has that dying classic hip-hop sound of the 2000s.

I agree with most of what you said, and because writing a wall of text about MJ would mean I'd be repeating almost everything you said, I'll just say this:
MJ was a noticer. He knew things, he had experience in the industry and that's why they wanted him gone.

Also that comment on Invincible, while agreeable to a point, it's not something I would say.
it was definitely overshadowed by other things (like 9/11) because at the end of his career- Michael was basically getting cucked by Sony, so Invincible's failure is 90% the fault of it's basically nonexistent marketing.
It's not a top tier album considering his discography of course, but it's not as weak as you described it.
The first three songs, Unbreakable (https://youtu.be/WNQiROr5_AY), Heartbreaker (https://youtu.be/CVd2A3F3UQw) and Invincible (https://youtu.be/kXzM0zmDEek) are generally the highlights of this album, with a few tracks being basically being hidden gems you'd only hear if you listened to the whole thing (obviously not including the main single "You Rock My World")- Like "2000 Watts", "You Are My Life" and "Privacy", which you can't say are bad songs.

Getting into my full thoughts on the production of Invincible would only triple the character count, so I'll keep it short:
Michael Jackson has always had amazing production quality with his albums. Not a single one has had "Bad" (lol) sound quality or arrangements. And that's all thanks to Michael's perfectionism and Quincy Jones. Now, Michael hasn't worked with Quincy since Bad, and yet he still remained high and mighty with his amazing production- and that absolutely shows with his albums after Thriller- Especially with History and Invincible.
MJ's sound evolved over time, like most artists, but in retrospect he never had a drop off or a decline in terms of quality, only in public image.

TL;DR
(You) and I have a very similar sentiment regarding The King of Pop, but compared to you, I really like Invincible.

Maybe I was too harsh on Invincible. I relistened to the songs you listed and while they're not really the kind of music I'm into, and I likely won't go out of my way to listen to them again, I can see why people would like them. The last two songs you mentioned, "You Are My Life" and "Privacy", in particular captured my attention. They do stick out of the rest of the album, with "Privacy" developing into a harder sound towards the end with that guitar part.

Did you spend time reflecting on it? I always try to refrain from the knee-jerk "mufuggen ebil ai slop" reaction, so I decided to listen to this as objectively as possible. It's mediocre, frankly. It does sound like a pop imitation of the 80s from the 2010s and I don't really like pop from the 2010s. But it is basically competent at the least. You can still tell it's AI from the synthetic vocals, but even if a human recorded it, I don't think its quality would improve much. It's just bland pop tbh. But you do you. If you like it, there's nothing inherently wrong with that, I'd argue.

Very interesting. I think I've heard some musics you'd be interested in. I'll see if I can find a few tracks later.
