TL;DR a large contingent of furries are cashing cheques with exotic colour schemes that their OCs can't cash.

It is insane how people will take out high-interest loans on fursuit materials or even more on fursuit commissions with shit designs like this. The blue contrasts faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too heavily with the blue countershading and the yellow is some fucking out-there shade as if it was picked randomly. The lack of thought that goes into many fursuits is embarrassing and perhaps has helped contribute to the negative perception of furries among the mainstream populace - wearing a fursuit with grounded colours is a lot less ridiculous and embarrassing than dressing up as a Chuck E. Cheese character.

In my opinion, if you're not a serious art autist, ambitious exotic colour designs on furry characters will always look like shit. The fursuits with exotic colours that work are the ones that try to be as reserved as possible (i.e. not contrasting too heavily with other colours by using more subdued shades and pairing them with sane fur colours like brown or white).

These more sane colour choices are reflected in the 'foo's OCs, which is probabilistically unlikely to occur unless the community has all come to this same conclusion, either independently or from studying.

To conclude, furries are autistic retards and their actions only serve to worsen their reputation, a tendency which is already common knowledge.

Does anyone here even have a suit of their own? The whole concept seems at least somewhat unhinged and trans-coded.
Perhaps the same people who are into suiting up also have a desire to stand out, and the fursuiting arms race drives them towards picking obnoxious colors? The general head shape on most of these suits seems to be the same (within the bracket of the same species) probably because those producing the suits charge much more for non-standard muzzles. The face will almost always have this vacant smile and eyes staring blankly into infinity, can't be helped.

For drawn OCs however sky's the limit. Besides the artists themselves have a better grasp on color theory than the average "I'll have uuhhhhh a playful permanently smirking husky with a large square schnozzle and let's make him uhhhh pastel pink and blue" Joe, hence the more pleasing to look at characters.

He's saying that if fursuit makers were drawing instead they would be broke niggas. The problem is furry OCs are generally ugly and they ARE commissioning drawings of their ugly OCs.

It makes sense if English is your first language. Twitter they/them 19 year old furries will start to insist some random things furries have liked forever is bad.

Looking at how and what the artist draws, the characters always seem to be in a constant state of infatuation. Probably does it to set the mood.
They are however somewhat flamboyant, aren't they? Compare them with Averi: most of her official appearances have her blushing too. Her reference sheet has her cheeks rosied up on every drawing where the face is visible. Even the local Averi flag has these pink diagonal lines. Somehow, they hardly ever stick out.

Was expecting a comment on the reflection on the cupboard instead. Now that's a peculiar artistic choice.
