Not all of them are. Years ago I worked in an urban area at a facility that had a sizable colony of urban raccoons. People were feeding them. They'd dig through the trash for food. They looked like furry basketballs with feet. They were absolutely fearless. They'd walk right up to people around the entrances after dark and glare at them until they were given food. It was bizarre and unsettling. Wild animals aren't supposed to behave like that, or look like that. I always wondered if some of them were rabid.
Of course the weird fat raccoons were the least unpleasant thing about that job. Don't get me started.
